More Resources, More Transparency, More Support

At the last meeting of the Student Parliament (StuPa) for the 2024/25 legislative period, numerous resolutions were passed that are directly relevant to many Bamberg students – here is an overview of the most important developments:

Cash injection and supplementary budget

Good news: the StuPa was able to pass a supplementary budget because more funds were allocated to the student council. At the same time, four departments that were previously inactive or barely active (Hiwi, Municipal Affairs, Quality, FairTrade) were dissolved. The money that has been freed up will be put to good use:

Opening hours: TB5 terrace

A motion by the Human Sciences Student Council has been accepted: the terrace of Branch Library 5 will now be open for as long as the library itself. The decision will now be submitted to the university management.

Political events: More clarity, fewer hurdles

Senator Elias Leikeb successfully advocated for more transparency in room allocation and political events. The Student Council will now work with the university administration to develop guidelines – a step towards clearer, fairer decision-making processes.

Psychological counselling: demand remains high

The BAGLS (Bamberg Green Left Student Initiative) criticised the range of psychotherapeutic counselling services offered by the student union. The Psychotherapeutic Counselling Centre (PBS) continues to be heavily utilised. Among other things, the following demands were made:

All points were approved and will now be forwarded to the student services organisation.

Heat: Measures against overheated seminar rooms

A motion by the Human Sciences Student Council (Huwi) addressed the inadequate air conditioning at the university. It calls for short-term measures to cool rooms and a long-term concept for heat reduction – including in new buildings and renovations.

Miscellaneous: Equality, ombudsman’s office, ice cream vending machines
