The Results Are In: University Elections 2026

You have voted, we will give you the results:

Student Parliament

There’s a new group. The Teachers’ Education Working Group (LeB) secured two seats and aims to draw more attention to issues of teacher education in the Student Parliament. The Juso-Hochschulgruppe (Jusos, social democrats) and the Ring Christlich-Demokratischer Studenten (RCDS, Christian democrats) also secured two seats each. The Political Initiative for Critique, Solidarity and I…? (PIKSI) lost one seat and returns to the Student Parliament with four seats. The Bamberg Green-Left Student Initiative (BAGLS) also lost one seat but remains the largest parliamentary representation with seven seats. The Student Parliament meets for the first time on 6 July in its constituent session with a new constellation.

Seats in the Student Parliament for the 2026/25 term: political groups on the left, senate in the middle and student councils on the right.

Senate

Although there were three lists, the Bunte Linke Liste received the most votes and provides both student representatives in the Senate, the same as last year. There are however two new faces compared to last year: Marie Karger (Jusos) and Zoé Lutz. The two elected senators are part of the University Council, the Student Parliament and the Speakers’ Council.

Student Councils

Unlike last year, we cannot yet tell you who was elected as student representatives in their respective Faculty Council. As of this year, this will be decided by all members of each faculty’s Student Council in its constituent session, so keep an eye out for news from your Student Council if you’re interested in this.

The Student Council election at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics and Business Administration was a little different from elections at the other faculties because there were two lists. The new list “FACHSCHAFTEN SIND ABWÄHLBAR – Initiative gegen den spätfachschaftlichen Verwaltungsfetisch” secured one seat. The established SoWi list convinced more voters and won seven seats.

Voter Turnout

After last year’s dip in voter turnout, there was a slight increase. Voter turnout was similar to pre-covid elections (apart from 2024), with 13% (Senate and Student Parliament). Voter turnout in the individual faculties also rose a little, with the exception of the Faculty Information Systems and Applied Computer Sciences.

We would like to thank everyone who cast their vote and wish all those elected every success for the 2026/27 legislative term!
